MyLibrary is a personal area where you:

Note: Tags and Comments added by you will be able to be viewed by all users.
The first screen shows any search items (if any) that you have added previously using the Add to MyLibrary feature.
MyLibrary is a private area to store information and items for future personal use. Some ideas for its use are:

To use any of the following features in MyLibrary it is necessary to first login.
view private added search results
add and view tags
view and edit private notes on items
view checkout items
renew items
place requests

To login, click on Login to MyLibrary ... in the top right of the Library homepage.
At the login prompt provide a Library barcode and password.

After performing a search in the catalogue, a link is displayed on the right of each item displayed called Add to MyLibrary.
After clicking on the Add to MyLibrary you are prompted to add tags and notes. Search items results can be added with or without tags and/or notes, or they can be added later as required.
Once you are logged into MyLibrary there are two ways to view MyLibrary information.
The View MyLibrary link in the top right of the screen or using the MyLibrary button on the right side of the search results, will display your MyLibrary list of previously added items (if you have any).
Notes are private notes that can be added to items you add to MyLibrary, that can only be viewed by you when logged in to MyLibrary.
Notes are displayed in the list of added items in MyLibrary and they appear in the line below Shelf Number area.
Adding Notes: Notes are added as part of the Add to MyLibrary process.
Editing Notes: Notes can be added and edited by clicking on the Edit link next to each added item in MyLibrary.
Comments are public that can be viewed by all users within an individual record. These should be appropriate comments that will be useful to others.
Comments such as "this is a great book" are not considered much use to others and more useful comments might be:
Why is was a good resource?
What is the resource useful for?
Where could it be used?
How could others use it?
If you are wanting to provide feedback to the Library for a problem or an important reason send an email or phone the information directly to the library. Don't leave in a public comment, because it may not be seen by library staff.
Tags can be added by all users to any searched item and can be used in searches by all users in the catalogue from the drop list in the search at the top of the catalogue pages. For Basic Search Help.
When you are logged into MyLibrary you will see a list under the My Tags heading of the tags that you have added. If you click on a tag, only the items MyLibrary linked to that tag will display. If another tag are clicked, then only the items that match both tags will be displayed.
To remove the tag filter (not the tag), click on the "X" above the tag or click on the View MyLibrary link to display all items with no filtering.
Item tags also show below the Shelf Number in the MyLibrary list view.
When you view a record (by clicking on an item title) any public tags linked to this item will appear in the Tags list on the right of the page.
Note: When you delete an item from MyLibrary the tag will still be available in the public tag search, but is removed from the private My Tags list.
To use, add, delete or edit items in MyLibrary it is necessary to login using your library barcode number from your student or library card. The password is your birth date in DDMMYY format. More login information.
Once you are logged into MyLibrary choose from the buttons on the right side of the screen for:
viewing or modifying personal searches
viewing checked out items
renewing or requesting items
fines and your profile
A list of any items you have checked out (or borrowed) with the due dates when it needs to be returned. If an item is overdue or has been had a request placed by other users you will not see a renew option against an item. More renewal information.
To make a request you must be logged into MyLibary.

Placing a request is not "reserving" an item that is on the shelf, it is actually requesting (or placing a hold on) an item that is out on loan.
You cannot request an item that is available on the shelves.
Also it is not possible to request an electronic resource such as an eJournal or eBook as these are not stored in the Library, as they are stored electronically and are available at any time via the Internet.
